Lindsey Wilson Comeback Falls Shorts Against No. 8 Martin Methodist

COLUMBIA, Ky. – After trailing by as many as 25 points, the Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team rallied to within six late in the game before eventually falling to No. 8 Martin Methodist (Tenn.) on Monday night at Biggers Sports Center.

The Blue Raiders (9-8) found themselves down big early as Martin Methodist (13-1) opened the game on a 15-1 run over the first five and a half minutes. Lindsey Wilson started the game 0-for-9 from the floor, including going 0-for-7 from three-point range. The Blue Raiders made their first field-goal attempt at the 13:44 mark on a jump shot by Charles Sutton.

The dry spell continued for Lindsey Wilson as the next made shot from the floor did not come until the 10:28 mark on a three pointer by Bryan Wallace to make it 19-8 in favor of the RedHawks.

Lindsey Wilson tried to keep it close, cutting the lead to eight at 8:38, but Martin Methodist proceeded to close out the opening half with a 21-6 run taking a 42-19 lead into the break.

Lindsey Wilson shot 24.1 percent from the field in the first half, including just 2-of-17 for 11.8 percent from beyond the arc. Martin Methodist connected on 14-of-34 shots from the floor for 41.2 percent going 4-of-9 from three-point range.

In the second half, the Blue Raiders found some life going on a 10-4 run to open the frame and cut the lead to 46-29 with 16:21 left in the game.

But Martin Methodist pushed the lead back up to as many as 21 in the second half at 61-40 with 12:13 to play. Then the Blue Raiders slowly began mounting their comeback.

Three-straight baskets by Tony Horne helped Lindsey Wilson go on an 18-7 run, capped off by a steal and layup by Reco Lewis that made it 68-58 with just over four minutes to play.
