Murray State Throttles Belmont for 12th Consecutive Win

The Murray State Racers put on a show for the home fans Thursday in taking a 92-77 win over the visiting Belmont Bruins at the CFSB Center in Murray, Ky.

The Racers improved to 14-4 and 4-0 in the Ohio valley Conference. They moved their winning streak to 12 straight, the third longest in the nation the nation.

Cameron Payne led a group of five Racers that scored in double figures with 23 points. Jarvis Williams scored 19 and T.J. Sapp added 15. Jeffery Moss tossed in 13 points, while the Racers got 10 each from Justin Seymour and Jonathan Fairell.

Fairell and Williams each had a double-double with 11 and 10 rebounds.

It was a game of runs and at the end of the day, the Racers had more of them.

With a 16-5 start, the Racers were rolling when Williams dunked off a Sapp assist, but the Bruins answered to cut the lead to 25-20 at the 7:39 mark. The Racers pushed to a 15-point lead at the 5:45 mark which was highlighted by a Moss three-point play and a 3-point basket from Seymour.

Belmont was able to trim MSU's lead to 46-37 at the half.

Again the lead was cut in the early second half to five points at the 18:37 mark and again the Racers answered with an impressive burst. Sapp capped a 15-3 run with a steal and slam to put the Racers in front 64-47 with 16:11 remaining. Another 9-3 run at the 4:23 mark put MSU up by 22 points at 90-68.
