New Zealand Forward Tai Wynyard Commits to Kentucky; Says He Picked UK Because "It was amazing"

The Kentucky Wildcats picked up a commitment from 6-foot-9 power forward Tai Wynyard on Sunday.

Wynyard, who attends Rangitoto College in New Zealand and is part of the NZ Breakers development squad, is the first member of Kentucky's Class of 2016.

He also took official visits to Villanova and Texas. St. Mary's, Pittsburgh and Hawaii had also shown interest in Wynyard.

Wynyard said he chose Kentucky because "it was amazing."

Here is more from 3News in New Zealand:

The 16-year-old Kiwi visited Kentucky's university campus earlier this month and said he almost committed to the school at the first chance he got.

"Why Kentucky? Well it was amazing," said Wynyard.

"They were my first college [visit] and I just wanted to sign up just there and then.

"They wanted to push me the hardest, they said 'If you don't want to work hard, don't come to our school' and that's what I love."
