UK on UTEP Game: "We didn't back out of anything because we never agreed to play the game"

A University of Kentucky spokesperson gave the Courier-Journal a statement about UTEP's allegations that the Wildcats "backed out" of a proposed 2016 game vs. the Miners.

Kentucky says they didn't back out of anything because they never agreed to play the game.

Wildcats team spokespersn Eric Lindsey clarified in an email Thursday morning that, "We didn't back out of anything because we never agreed to play the game. There were discussions about the possibility of playing, but they never materialized past that. It just didn't work out. Next year our schedule is pretty set as far as games away from home.

Lindsey did confirm that Kentucky would be open to playing UTEP at some point in the future.

UTEP head coach Tim Floyd stated last night that Kentucky "just backed out" of the game.
