Union College Just Outside of NAIA DII Top 25; Bulldogs Have Won Six Straight Games

Union College is just outside the NAIA Division II Coaches' Top 25 this week. The Bulldogs are tied for No. 27 with Indiana East.

Cincinnati Christian is No. 17 this week with a 14-5 record.

Union College knocked off Ohio Christian Monday night for their sixth consecutive win.

CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio - Union College guard Dominique Hagans (SR/Lexington, Ky.) led five double-digit scorers with a double-double (19 points, 10 rebounds), as the Bulldogs pulled away in the second half to notch a 101-84 victory at Ohio Christian on Monday night.

The win was Union's sixth in a row, as the Bulldogs improved to 15-4 overall on the year with the victory. Ohio Christian fell to 9-10 with the defeat.

In the first half, Union came out hot, opening a 17-7 lead four minutes into the contest. However, Ohio Christian fought back, tying the game up at 29-all with six minutes to go in the period. For the rest of the half, it remained an nip and tuck affair, but OCU went on a 13-0 run toward the end of the half to take a 42-36 lead with one minute to go.

However, Union ended the half on a flurry of their own to take control of the game back, ending the period on a 9-2 run ot take a slim 45-44 lead into the locker room for intermission.

It was a different story in the second half, as the Bulldogs put away OCU early on. In the period, Union outscored Trailblazers by 16 points (56-40) to pull away, going over the century mark for the third straight game in the process.

Overall, Hagans posted his first double-double with his 19 point, 10 rebound performance. Hagans also recorded five assists and five steals in the win, as well.

Elsewhere, Fitzgerald White (SR/Miami, Fla. ) had 18 points, five assists and three steals, while Deante Johnson (SR/Cincinnati, Ohio) and JD Tucker (JR/Charleston, S.C.) scored 16 points, apiece. DeAntray Stevens (SR/Cincinnati, Ohio) rounded out the double-digit scorers on the night for Union, scoring 11 points.
