Centre College's Black Scinta Named SAA Player of the Week for Third Time This Season

Centre College's Blake Scinta has been named Southern Athletic Association Player of the Week for the third time this season.

After helping lead the Colonels to two road victories, Centre men's basketball player Blake Scinta claimed his third SAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week award this season, the conference announced Monday.

Scinta, a junior forward from Louisville, Ky., averaged 19.5 points, including a 29-point effort on Friday, as Centre extended its winning streak to seven games with road wins at Birmingham-Southern and Millsaps.

He shot 71 percent (17-of-24) from the field for the weekend, while also averaging 7.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.0 steals. Scinta filled the stat sheet for the Colonels in Friday's 69-42 win at BSC, scoring 29 points on 8-of-12 shooting while recording seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Scinta also contributed 10 points, seven boards, and three steals as the Colonels held off Millsaps 61-59 on Sunday.

The award was the third weekly honor for Scinta this season, which leads the conference. Scinta also leads Centre with 15.6 points per game on the year while also leading the SAA with a field goal percentage of 60.9 and ranking sixth in the conference with an average of 6.7 rebounds per game.

Winners of their last seven games, Centre heads into the final weekend of the regular season with an 18-4 overall record and tied for first place in the SAA with a 9-3 conference record. The Colonels next play at 8 p.m. on Friday at Berry.
