Thursday's Pikeville at Georgetown College Game Has Been Postponed

Thursday night's University of Pikeville at Georgetown College game has been postponed and rescheduled to Monday, February 23 at 8:00 p.m.

Here are details from GC:

Georgetown College and University of Pikeville have one of the hottest rivalries right now in basketball. However, the heat will not help melt the massive amounts of snow or warm the frigid temperatures up enough to make it safe for Thursday's doubleheader in Georgetown.

"First and foremost it is about the safety of all individuals involved," said GC Director of Athletics Brian Evans. "We spoke with Pikeville and with our Mid-South Conference commissioner Eric Ward. All parties feel it is in the best interest of the traveling team, all fans and workers to postpone these games until Monday."

Games will remain at the normal weekday times – 6 pm women and 8 pm men. Georgetown will still celebrate Senior Day on Saturday against the University of the Cumberlands, while the celebration for coach Chris Briggs' 100th win has been adjusted to Monday during the halftime of the women's game.

Two other games in the MSC slated for Thursday are also either moved or currently being discussed. Cumberland University will play at Life University Friday, while UC at Shawnee State University is being looked at for a possible postponement.
