Mid-South Conference Tournament - Quarterfinals

Game recap by GC:

Georgetown College men's basketball made it a clean sweep of Life University in the school's first year as full members of the Mid-South Conference. The No. 11 Tigers (25-6) got a lift from senior Corey Washburn in a 107-89 win in the conclusion of the MSC quarterfinals Friday at the Frankfort Convention Center.

He tallied a new career-high 27 points on 12-of-19 shooting and grabbed 15 rebounds. Junior Noah Cottrill poured in a game-high 28 points. Junior Deondre McWhorter had the only other double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Domonique Bull came off the bench for 11 points and six assists, while Darion Burns had seven points and seven assists.

Georgetown needed a shot in the arm as junior Tony Kimbro played just two minutes and 15 seconds after sustaining a wrist injury while falling backwards.

The road does not get any easier for GC, entering the semifinals against rival Campbellsville University. Tip is set for 8 pm Saturday in Frankfort.

The Tigers held a 19-point edge at one point in the first half, but were well aware that Lindsey Wilson College had a 20-plus halftime lead slip away in an earlier quarterfinal.

The Running Eagles (16-15) dwindled a 20-point edge, 74-54, down to 10 went Georgetown put a run of its own together. The Tigers scored 15 of the next 18 points for a 99-77 edge to solidify their grasp on the victory.
