Final from Louisville, Kentucky

NCAA Tournament - Second Round

No. 1 Kentucky started and ended the game sluggishly but still had plenty of firepower to put away Hampton 79-56 late Thursday night in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.

''I didn't like how we started the game, I didn't quite like how we finished the game, but it is 1 o'clock at night,'' said coach John Calipari after the game. ''And we had an overtime game where the guys were hanging out in the locker room for an hour and a half, so I'm going to chalk it up to that and move on.''

Karl-Anthony Towns led Kentucky (35-0) with 21 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocks. Andrew Harrison finished with 14 points. Tyler Ulis added 11 and Trey Lyles chipped in 10.

Willie Cauley-Stein had 7 points and 11 rebounds for the Wildcats, who out-rebounded Hampton (17-18) 51-31.

Quinton Chievous led the Pirates with a game-high 22 points and 10 boards.

Hampton shot just 17-59 (28.8%) for the game.

Kentucky returns to action in the Round of 32 against Cincinnati at 2:40 p.m. ET on Saturday.
