Three from Transylvania Earn All-HCAC Honors

Three players from Transylvania University have earned all-conference honors in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

GREENWOOD, Ind.—Three Pioneer men’s basketball players have received all-conference honors, the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced Tuesday. Junior forward Parker Stansberry, sophomore guard Alex Jones and senior guard Isaiah Dooley were recognized for their efforts during the 2014-15 season.

Stansberry and Jones were each named 2nd Team All-HCAC after successful years for the Pioneers. Stansberry started 24 of the 25 Transylvania games this season, averaging 13.6 points per game and seven rebounds per game, shooting 43.4 percent, including 38.7 percent from behind the arc. He recorded a season-high in points on Jan. 10 against HCAC opponent Manchester when he dropped 23 points. His season-high in rebounds came against Cal Tech on Dec. 16 when he pulled down 12 boards. Stansberry recorded four double-doubles for the Pioneers on the season.

Jones led Transylvania in scoring and assists for the season, averaging 16.9 points per game and 4.4 assists per game while also pulling down 3.7 rebounds per contest. Jones recorded a season high in rebounds against Lipscomb on Nov. 22 when he snatched 10 rebounds; his season high for assists came in a Jan. 31 matchup against Manchester as he dished out 10 assists. Jones’ season high in points came in a 40-point outburst against Franklin when he went 15-24 from the floor (62.5 percent). He notched two double-doubles for the Transylvania on the season, the first against Lipscomb (11pts., 10 reb.) and the second against Manchester (30pts., 10 ast.)

Dooley was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team, an award that recognizes individuals for exemplary character and leadership. Dooley appeared in nine games for Transylvania, starting one. He recorded a season-high in points on Dec. 28 against Berry and on Feb. 21 versus Bluffton, tallying three points in both games.
