JUCO Guard Cameron Williams Signs with Eastern Kentucky University

Junior college point guard Cameron Williams has signed with Eastern Kentucky University for the 2015-16 season.

Here is a release from EKU:

RICHMOND, Ky. – Cameron Williams, a 5-foot-11 guard, has signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play college basketball at Eastern Kentucky.

"We are excited to welcome Cameron to the Eastern Kentucky family," head coach Dan McHale said. "He is an engaging young man who Colonel fans will love to get to know on and off the court."

Williams is the first recruit to officially sign with McHale, who took the reins of the program on April 9.

Williams averaged 20.9 points, 2.3 assists and 1.4 steals per game for North Platte Community College during the 2014-15 season. He shot 48 percent from the field and 43 percent from behind the three-point line.

The Omaha, Nebraska native earned first team All-Region IX honors and first team All-Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference (NCCAC) as a sophomore while leading the Knights to a 24-9 record. NPCC is located in North Platte, Nebraska.

"Cam is an electric point guard that will be great in our up-tempo style of play," said McHale. "I'm thrilled that he chose to be a major part of what we are building at EKU."

As a freshman in 2013-14, Williams was second on the team with an average of 13.7 points per game. He made 43 percent of his shots from the field. Williams improved his three-point shooting by 18.5 points from his freshman to sophomore seasons. He went 21-of-87 from deep for 24 percent his first year.
