Mike Allen Named Head Coach at Tates Creek High School

Former Bryan Station player and coach Mike Allen has been named the new head coach at Tates Creek High School.

Allen replaces coach Wayne Breeden, who recently stepped down after seven seasons at Tates Creek.

Last season, Allen was Breeden's assistant at Tates Creek after being fired Bryan Station's coach in 2014.

Here's an excerpt from Mike Fields of the Herald-Leader:

"I thought if I stayed the course by doing the right thing, doing right by people and working hard, I felt the good Lord would bless me with a second chance," Allen said.

Allen was an all-state player at Bryan Station in the late 1980s, and set a city scoring record with 2,408 points in his career. He coached Bryan Station's girls for two seasons, and Frankfort's boys for two years before becoming Bryan Station's boys' coach in 2010.

He was suspended for undisclosed reasons the last few weeks of the 2014 season, and wasn't rehired. He had a four-year record of 57-59.

"Things didn't end the way I wanted at Bryan Station, but there are no hard feelings," Allen said. "Once a Defender, always a Defender.
