Morehead State Adds JUCO Guard/Forward Ronnye Beamon

Morehead State has signed JUCO guard/forward Ronnye Beamon for 2015-16.

Here is a press release from MSU:

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Ronnye Beamon, a 6-foot-5 guard/forward who helped Kaskaskia (Ill.) to a 23-9 record last season, has signed a National Letter of Intent with the Morehead State men's basketball program. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining and will be able to play immediately.

"I want to welcome Ronnye to the Morehead State men's basketball program," Head Coach Sean Woods said. "He's another young man who fits our style and system. Ronnye has enjoyed a lot of success in his career and will bring a winning mentality to our team the next two seasons."

Beamon averaged 10.5 points and 3.3 rebounds as a sophomore in 2014-15. He drilled 49 percent from the field and 74 percent from the foul line. The National Junior College Athletic Association Blue Devils won seven consecutive tilts and finished 11-5 in Great Rivers Athletic Conference play.

A native of Calumet City, Ill., Beamon started his collegiate career at Horizon League member Youngstown State. He played in 13 contests for the Penguins as a freshman in 2013-14.

Beamon was a four-year letterwinner at Bishop Noll High School in Hammond, Ind. He helped the Warriors to a 73-19 record (.793) from 2008-12. BNHS captured sectional, regional and semi-state championships on its way to a 2011 Indiana High School Athletic Association 2A runner-up finish.

Beamon was an All-Greater South Shore Conference selection his final two seasons and Honorable-Mention All-State choice his final campaign. He averaged 14.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.1 steals as a senior after posting 12.0 points and 5.0 boards per contest as a junior.

"We've heard good things about Ronnye's work ethic," Woods added. "He's a big-time athlete who can help us on both ends of the floor. Defensively, Ronnye can guard four positions and will help in our press. Offensively, he can make shots and score in a variety of ways."
