Bowling Green Bandits Sign Donovan Kates and Gavin Schumann

The Bowling Green Bandits have signed Donovan Kates and Gavin Schumann for the upcoming season.

Kates played for Christian County in high school and just finished up a solid career at Manhattan.

Schuman just graduated from Southern Indiana. He averaged 19.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game last season.

Donovan Kates:

Bowling Green Bandits head coach Kevin Keathley , agency: Walton Sports Management Group has inked his first free-agent of the 2015 season to a one year contract with the signing of 6'6", 200 pound combo guard Donovan Kates (6'6''-G-93, agency: Agency). Kates hails from Hopkinsville, Ky. where he attended Christian County High School where he helped lead the Colonels to the 2011 Kentucky State Championship. Kates just finished a stellar collegiate career at Manhattan playing for Steve Masiello where he scored close to 1,000 points and helped guide Manhattan to two NCAA tournament appearances during his four year career.

"I couldn't be more excited to have Donovan on board for the 2015-2016 season. Donovan is my type of guy. He can play multiple positions and brings big time energy on the defensive end." Keathley stated. "He brings a winning mentality with him having won a state championship here in Kentucky and playing in multiple NCAA tournament appearances."

Prior to playing at Manhattan Kates earned All-Kentucky honors as a senior playing for Christian County head coach Kerry Stovall. Kates averaged 20 points and seven rebounds per game, shooting over 50% from the field during the Colonels' 2011 Championship campaign. The long distance marksman, who has 'NBA shooting range off the catch' led Christian County with 77 3-pointers and shot nearly 40% beyond the arc.

Gavin Schumann:

Bowling Green Bandits agreed terms with guard Gavin Schumann (188-73kg, agency: Agency). Schumann just graduated from S.Indiana (NCAA2). In 18 games he had very impressive stats: 19.6ppg, 3.6rpg, 2.6apg and 1.2spg last season.

As mentioned above he is just out of the college and it will be his first season as a pro.

The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Schumann's college team won GLVC Tournament in 2014. He was also voted GLVC All-Defensive Team in 2014
