Campbellsville University Earns Conference Road Win at Shawnee State

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – For the first time since 2010, Campbellsville men's basketball leaves Waller Gymnasium with a victory. The 18th-ranked Tigers knocked off Shawnee State, 71-62 on Thursday night.

Dii'Jon Allen-Jordan led the Tigers with 19 points on 5-of-12 shooting and also knocking down 9-of-14 from the free throw line. He recorded his fourth double-double of the season by grabbing 14 boards.

In the second half Rob Robinson knocked down his second 3-pointer to give the Tigers their biggest lead of the night, 44-31 with 15:38 left. Shawnee State whittled the lead to two points, 48-46, in a span of five minutes by going on a 15-4 run but the play of the night gave CU all the energy it would need to seal the win.

Coming out of a timeout, Sekou Harris picked up a steal and hit a streaking Allen-Jordan down the middle of the lane. Allen-Jordan brought the house down with a monstrous one-handed slam dunk while being fouled. View the dunk here -https://youtu.be/38cODYHCoUs

Allen-Jordan knocked down the free throw to push CU back ahead by five, 51-46.

Following the posterizing dunk, Hagen Tyler knocked down two 3-point baskets and pushed the Tigers lead back to eight, 60-52, with 5:38 left but Shawnee State rallied once more to make things interesting. The Bears went on a quick 6-0 spurt and were able to cut the lead back down to two points, 60-58 with 4:20 remaining.

Coming out of a another timeout, Campbellsville would go on a 11-4 run to close out the game. The Tigers held Shawnee State scoreless in the final 2:39 and hit 7-of-8 free throws to seal the victory.

Campbellsville finished hitting 21-of-28 free throws (75 percent) overall compared to the Bears only hitting 31.6 percent (6-of-19).

Tyler finished with 13 points followed by Ron Scott's 11 and Rob Robinson's 10.
