Centre's Blake Scinta Named SAA Player of the Week

Centre College's Blake Scinta was named Southern Athletic Association Player of the Week on Monday.

ATLANTA, Ga. (CentreAthletics.com) – The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) announced its weekly basketball awards on Monday afternoon, with Centre senior forward Blake Scinta (Louisville, Ky.) garnering Player of the Week honors after his career night against Franklin last Thursday.

Scinta tallied a career-high 33 points in the Colonels' 71-60 non-conference victory over the Grizzlies.

He finished with a double-double, grabbing 11 rebounds and connecting on 11-of-19 field goals and 11-of-14 free throws. He also posted four steals and two assists in the win.

The game marked Scinta's eighth career double-double. He also recently reached 1,000 career points in Centre's season opener against Maryville last Sunday. He now has 1,033 career points, good for 27th among Centre all-time leading scorers.

Scinta and the Colonels return to action Monday night traveling to Lexington to take on local rival Transylvania. Tip-off at the Beck Center is set for 7:30 p.m.
