Sporting News Hammers Arkansas Fans for Harassing Malik Monk

Kami Mattioli of Sporting News has a message for Arkansas fans who are disgruntled that Malik Monk chose the Kentucky Wildcats.

Dear Arkansas fans,

I hope this message finds you well, but if we're being honest, after Wednesday's news it probably doesn't for some of you.

You see, when your state's pride and joy, Malik Monk, chose to go to Kentucky on Wednesday, there was a contingent of fans — maybe "degenerates" is a better word for them — who harrassed a 17-year-old boy and his family because he wanted to go to a school where he felt he had the best chance of reaching his dream.

And yes, I know not all or even a majority of Arkansas residents or fans felt this way, but the ones who disagreed with his decision were very vocal about it and, oftentimes, influential figures. Take, for example, the mild-mannered, always rational Razorback Nation radio host, who advised Monk that he and his family should flee the state and blamed John Calipari for tampering and then the NCAA for "allowing this to happen."

Then there were fans who changed Monk's brother's Wikipedia page, calling him a traitor and proclaiming that a popular Kentucky radio host had been funneling the superstar player money to persuade him to join the Wildcats.

And all of these "fans" — and I'm using that term in jest, if you can't already tell, so as not to insult the team's supporters who are actually decent human beings — kept repeating how Monk "owed" Arkansas.
