University of the Cumberlands Opens Season with Win Over IU-Southeast

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men’s Basketball team hosted their season opener on Tuesday in the O. Wayne Rollins Center against the Grenadiers of Indiana University-Southeast (IUSE). With many new faces and a ton of skill and ability, the Patriots would show a heavy push in the 2nd half to come away with a 15 point win, 85-70.


· Xavier Owens (Tampa, FL) led the Patriots on the night with 21 points and 8 rebounds.
· Kaashif English (Orlando, FL) was a big presence off the bench with 16 points and 7 rebounds.
· Tre Boutilier (Dartmouth, Canada) chipped in his first double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
· D’Lando Carter (Danville, IL) also added 12 points in the victory.
· The Patriots shot 27-38 (71.1%) from the free throw line while outrebounding the Grenadiers 44-26.


The Patriots next game will take place in Atlanta, Georgia on November 10th as they take on Carver Bible College. Tipoff is set for 6 pm.
