Rick Pitino On the UMKC Win and Honoring Billy Minardi in Wake of Scandal

Here's what Rick Pitino had to say last night after Louisville's win over UMKC:

Over the weekend, Pitino made some comments about the scandal at Louisville and the Billy Minardi Classic.

"The fact that one thing might have gone on is a disgrace in my book," Pitino said about Minardi, who tragically lost his life during 9/11. "We are going to honor him the right way this time around and his legacy."

Here's an excerpt of Pitino's comments:

"We are going to honor Billy (Minardi) in the right fashion, unlike some of the things that went on (in the dorm named for Minardi involved in the alleged sex scandal), we are going to honor him the right way. We are very disturbed, what's true or what may not be true is not important to me," Pitino said.

"The fact that one thing might have gone on is a disgrace in my book. We are going to honor him the right way this time around and his legacy.

"There are a lot of great things from what we do during the tournament; to what we did with the dorm, to what Old Memorial Golf Course does with his statue. There is so many great things we do to try and help the people who lost loved ones during 9/11 from what happens in New York to what happens here. We are going to do it the right way. We have everyone coming back who was a part of it, to Mark Pope who knew Billy (Minardi) to Kareem (Richardson) and Kevin Keats who were a part of a championship team."
