Former Kentucky star Michael Kidd-Gilchrist helped raised $5,000 for A Child's Place, which works to erase the impact of homelessness on children and their education.

Here is more about the project from FSRMagazine.com:

Alan Springate, co-founder of The Cowfish in Raleigh, North Carolina, recently presented $5,000 to A Child’s Place, which works to erase the impact of homelessness on children and their education.

Kidd-Gilchrist worked with The Cowfish Executive Chef David Lucarelli and Master Sushi Chef Rifali Almunir to develop the MKG, which reflects his healthy eating habits.

Hedo Turkoglu Calls Out Enes Kanter in Political Feud

There is apparently a political feud between Turkish NBA stars Hedo Turkoglu and Enes Kanter.

Turkoglu recently called out Kanter saying, "Enes' head does not work."

Here is the latest from WelcometoCloudCity.com:

The latest development in this saga was when Enes Kanter got refused entry to the national team this Summer. Initially, Kanter cited politics as the reason why he couldn't play. The Turkish national government has been in conflict with the Gulen movement, which Kanter is a part of, since 2013. Eventually, Kanter tweeted a photo of Hedo Turkoglu with Turkey's president. The caption read something to the extent of, "this is why I was not invited".

Turkoglu took offense to what Kanter said, and responded with something to the extent of, "Enes' head does not work." Also, Turkoglu called for a permanent end to Kanter's career with the Turkish national team.

NBC Sports Wonders if Addition of Isaac Humphries is a Red Flag About Skal Labissiere's Eligibility

Rob Dauster of NBCSports.com wonders if Kentucky's addition of Isaac Humphries is actually a red flag about Skal Labissiere's eligibility.

Here's what Dauster says:

But there may be more to it than that, as the issues that have surrounded Labissiere throughout his recruitment have not been completely answered. No one that I’ve spoken to knows what the future holds for Labissiere, but the general consensus is that Calipari would not take a kid if he wasn’t going to be eligible. That said, there is enough smoke surrounding Labissiere and his guardian, Gerald Hamilton, that no one would be surprised if he got dinged for something.

One of the major questions for Labissiere is regarding the school he attended as a senior. He transferred out of Memphis Evangelical Christian school and into Lausanne Collegiate School, alsoin Memphis, but was ruled ineligible to play for the basketball team by the state of Tennessee. So Hamilton created a prep school called Reach Your Dreams Prep, which didn’t exist until this winter, for Labissiere to play as a senior.

It wasn’t the smoothest of transfers, to say the least.

Think about it like this: if Calipari was so confident that there would be no issues with Labissiere, would he be working so hard to bring in kids that play the same position as him?

The bottom line, however, is that with or without Labissiere, adding a player like Humphries now — and bringing in a player like Wynyard in December — is far from a bad thing.

Jamal Murray May Miss Opportunity with Canada Due to Classes at Kentucky

Jamal Murray, who just led Canada to the silver medals in the Pan Am Games, may not be able to participate in the FIBA Americas Championship in August due to classes at Kentucky.

According to Mike DeCourcy of SportingNews.com, the FIBA Americas event runs from August 31 through September 12, but classes begin at UK on August 26.

Kentucky faced a similar situation last season with Karl Towns and the Dominican Republic national team. Towns had to miss the FIBA Americas tournament.

Here is an excerpt from DeCourcy's article:

“We’ll see if there’s any way he can do both, because that’s what I want,” Calipari said. “The kid absolutely wants to play for the national team, and we want that. But the NCAA has really clear guidelines on this.

“This kid is so much for his country, I can’t begin to tell you. Whatever we can do, we’re going to do.”

Murray is a 6-5, 196-pound point guard from Kitchener, Ontario, who committed in June to play next season at Kentucky. Calipari said he spent two days in Canada watching the team train in advance of the Pan-Ams and spoke with team general manager Steve Nash and head coach Jay Triano.

“They are about this kid. They’re not going to do anything that hurts this kid’s career,” Calipari said. “What I’m happy about is, even if he goes there and trains with their team, think of the work he gets in. He’s 18 and he’s playing with pros.”

Kentucky had a similar situation last fall with freshman center Karl-Anthony Towns, who is a part of the Dominican Republic national team program and played for Calipari in 2011 and 2012, when he was the head coach. Dominicana qualified for the 2014 FIBA World Cup, which ran Aug. 30-Sept. 14. Towns did not participate. Calipari said, “With Karl, we couldn’t make that happen.”

In five games, Murray finished with averages of 16.0 points, 3.2 boards and 2.4 assists in the Pan Am Games.
