Kentucky Coasts to Victory Over North Carolina in Alumni Game

Kentucky 122
North Carolina 115

Final from Lexington, Kentucky

It was clear when the rosters were announced that North Carolina had little to no chance against Kentucky in Sunday evening's alumni game at Rupp Arena.

The roster for the former Wildcats featured nine NBA Draft picks, including six lottery picks. The Tar Heels had three former draft picks and one of those was 40-year old Jerry Stackhouse.

The game played out as expected with Kentucky controlling the action for most of the evening and cruising to a 122-115 victory.

North Carolina made a run late in the second half behind a strong performance from Golden State forward Harrison Barnes. Barnes led all scorers with 39 points on 14-for-30 shooting. James Michael McAdoo added 20 points and 16 rebounds for the Tar Heels. Dexter Strickland finished with 18 points.

DeMarcus Cousins scored 33 points and pulled down 18 boards for Kentucky. Terrence Jones contributed 22 points and 8 rebounds. Devin Booker and Trey Lyles scored 14 points each.

Funds raised through the alumni game were donated to 17 different charities, including $200,000 in the name of former North Carolina coach Dean Smith to start a legacy fund at the Naismith Hall of Fame.
