Eastern Kentucky Hands Belmont First OVC Home Loss...Ever

The Eastern Kentucky Colonels managed to do something that no other Ohio Valley Conference team has done on Saturday.

The Colonels came out of Belmont's Curb Event Center with a win.

Belmont has never lost at home to an OVC opponent since joining the league in 2012. The streak ended at 29 consecutive wins.

JaVontae Hawkins led the Colonels with a game-high 24 points in the 88-78 win. Jarelle Reischel added 20.

EKU knocked off Tennessee State 97-81 Thursday night.

With the two wins, the Colonels are out of the basement in the OVC East standing and back in contention for a spot in the league's postseason tournament. This is a pivotal week as Eastern Kentucky travels to rival Morehead State on Thursday and hosts Tennessee State on Saturday.

Here's a look at the OVC East standings heading into this key week of action:

Tennessee Tech 9-2 17-7
Belmont 9-2 17-8
Tennessee State 7-3 16-7
Morehead State 6-5 12-11
Eastern Kentucky 5-6 14-12
Jacksonville State 4-7 8-18
