DeMarcus Cousins Suspended One Game for Screaming at George Karl

The Sacramento Kings have suspended DeMarcus Cousins for screaming at George Karl during Wednesday night's loss to Cleveland.

Cousins will miss tonight's game vs. Orlando.

Chris Mannix of The Vertical has more on Wednesday night's incident:

The reason for DeMarcus Cousins' tirade on coach George Karl was the Sacramento Kings star's belief that his coach hadn't done enough to defend him to referees in a loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night, league sources told The Vertical.

Cousins continued to vent at Karl in the locker room after the game and later got into a heated discussion with vice president of basketball operations and general manager Vlade Divac, sources told The Vertical.

General manager Vlade Divac said this kind of behavior can't be tolerated:

"Well, obviously we tried to do our best thing to send a message that we cannot tolerate some stuff ... He went a little far and we have to do things to be on the same page."

"I don't know details, that's something between the players and coach, and George is not here right now, but you can ask him tomorrow."

"I think DeMarcus is doing very well this year and playing really hard. This is something that he was kind of emotionally overwhelmed and did something that he shouldn't do it and we did it to send a message ... he's a good kid, I hate doing this, but I'm general manager, I have to do sometimes hard stuff so I don't blame him with the emotions that he had, but it's the wrong thing to do."

"Last night, we talked about it. I heard, I didn't see it, but I heard what happened so I talked about it, I said, 'let's sleep on it and come tomorrow to practice earlier so we can talk about details and let me have time to think about what I'm going to do.' He came this morning, we talked about it and he wasn't happy, but I wasn't happy, but that's it."
