KHSAA Sweet Sixteen Moves Into Quarterfinal Round at Rupp Arena

There are eight teams still in the hunt for a Kentucky high school basketball state championship.

Today looks to be an incredible day of basketball with four potentially outstanding matchups.

Wednesday's results:

Murray 62 Buckhorn 35
Newport Central Catholic 48 Trinity 33
Bowling Green 75 Elliott County 59
Paul Laurence Dunbar 58 Mercer County 55

My picks Wednesday: Murray, Trinity, Bowling Green and Dunbar

What went wrong? NCC is a little better than I thought and I didn't expect Trinity to go scoreless in the 2nd quarter and shoot 10-42 FG.

Thursday's results:

Doss 66 Lawrence County 57
South Laurel 53 Christian County 50
Taylor County 94 Mason County 65
South Oldham 58 Owensboro Catholic 34

My picks for Thursday: Doss, Christian County, Taylor County and South Oldham

Upset Alert: Christian County better watch out for South Laurel. They are tested and have a legitimate big man who can change the game.

What went wrong: I had Christian County on upset alert for a reason. South Laurel is a very solid, well-coached team. They had a winning game plan and executed it perfectly. Kudos to Coach Jeff Davis and crew.

Today's Schedule:

Noon Murray vs. Newport Central Catholic
1:30 p.m. Dunbar vs. Bowling Green
6:30 p.m. Doss vs. Taylor County
8:00 p.m. South Laurel vs. South Oldham

My picks today: Newport Central Catholic, Dunbar, Taylor County, South Laurel

You don't want to miss: Dunbar vs. Bowling Green; this one will be a war. Every game of the quarterfinal session could go either way. It's going to be a great day of basketball at Rupp.
