Kentucky Christian Signs Owens Crawford, Gage Rhoades

Kentucky Christian University has added Owens Crawford and Gage Rhoades for the 2016-17 season.

Crawford averaged 10.7 points and 3.4 rebounds for Augusta High School last season.

Here's a little about his signing from Maysville-Online.com:

"When I went to KCU on a visit, I played with the team and I really liked it," Crawford said. "The campus was great and the people were very nice, the players and the teammates were nice. It is a real small school and it kind of felt like home to me."

Rhoades overcame a health issue to have a successful senior season at Chesapeake High School.

Here's a little about his adversity from Herald-Dispatch.com:

"He's going to fill a slot we need to fill," Lowe said. "He'll fit in nicely. This is truly a big signing for us. I don't know how he flew under the radar. We feel fortunate."
Rhoades, who once thought he had a heart ailment called right ventricular hypertrophy, later learned from doctors at Cleveland Clinic he actually suffered from atrial septal defect. That was during his junior season. He completed the season but knew he'd need surgery to correct the blood flow issue. He had the surgery May 8, 2015, got the green light to return to active status six weeks later and finally perform at 100 percent.
He was a fixture in the Chesapeake gym working to get his conditioning and shooting touch back.
"I've got a second chance," Rhoades said. "The health issue didn't scare anyone off. I'm a lot bigger from the (corrected) blood flow. I really wanted to be patient with the (recruiting) process."
