No. 8 Berea College Takes Care of Warren Wilson

wannanoa, NC- #8 Berea, up one spot from the previous USCAA Men's Basketball Division I Coaches Poll, returned to the court after a 102-68 victory against Ohio University-Chillicothe this past Wednesday. The team took the court against USCAA opponent, the Warren Wilson College Owls, looking to move their winning streak to three games.

Two three-point baskets from Richard Parker and Terique Miller along with a jump shot from Dyonta Bizzle-Brown pushed the Mountaineers ahead of the Owls 8-2. Warren Wilson pulled within three points of the lead before five straight points from a combination of Anthony Myrks-Brewer and Stephen Butts put the team ahead by eight points, 17-9. Berea's lead moved to double-digits off a three-point jump shot from Bizzle-Brown to make the score 27-15. A 19-9 run by the Owls over the next six minutes brought them back within two points of the lead 36-34. Parker's three-point basket and Corey Wise's free throws helped the Mountaineers go to halftime with a 41-40 advantage.

Parker opened the second half with his fourth three-pointer of the game but Warren Wilson scored the next five points to take their first lead of the game, 45-44. Gabe Hinton's jump shot gave Berea the lead back before a 10-0 run by the Owls put them ahead on the scoreboard, 55-46. The Mountaineers used a 16-0 scoring rally of their own, including four three point baskets (two from Parker and one each from Butts and Bizzle-Brown), to regain a lead they never gave up, 62-55. Warren Wilson pulled back to within four points, 65-61, before Butts' jump shot sparked a 14-2 run, putting the game out of reach as Berea walked off the court with a 93-78 win.
