Kentucky Wesleyan Completes Conference Play with Perfect 12-0 Record

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The nationally ranked No. 9 Kentucky Wesleyan College men's basketball team posted a 84-65 win over Trevecca Nazarene University on Saturday afternoon to cap off the 2017 regular season. The Panthers made history as the first school in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference to finish the regular season undefeated in conference play at 12-0. Kentucky Wesleyan earned the right to host the 2017 G-MAC championship tournament beginning on March 2 and will face the winner of fourth seed Malone versus fifth seed Cedarville.

The Panthers finished the regular season at 26-2 with a 24 game winning streak which marks the longest in program history and is also good for third in the nation among the NCAA behind Gonzaga (29) and Whitman (26).

A tight start to the game saw the lead change 11 times in the first 10 minutes of play. The Panthers pulled away with an 8-0 run over two minutes to take a 24-17 lead. Trevecca cut the deficit to four with a lay up at the 5:15 mark. Malek Harris notched a pair of free throws in the closing minutes to extend Kentucky Wesleyan's lead to 10, the first double digit lead of the game. The Panthers took a 44-32 lead to halftime.

Kentucky Wesleyan held a double digit lead the entire second half. Their largest lead of the game came at the 7:39 mark when Sam Williams drained two free throws to give them a 20-point lead.

Jordan Jacks finished with 25 points and 10 rebounds for his ninth double-double on the season. In four of the past five games the senior has posted a double-double. The one game he didn't have a double-double, he had his first career triple-double.

Charles Foster flirted with a double-double of his own, scoring 10 points and dishing out a team-high seven assists. Harris scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds while Ken-Jah Bosley scored nine points and tallied seven rebounds.

Kentucky Wesleyan scored 58 points in the paints and tabbed 26 points off of Trevecca's 20 turnovers. The Patnhers scored 13 second chance points and out rebounded the Trojans 36 to 27.

With a perfect 12-0 record in the G-MAC, Kentucky Wesleyan earned the right to host the G-MAC conference tournament March 2-4 at the Sportscenter. As the number one seed, the Panthers received a first round bye and will be in action on March 3 at 1:30 pm against the winner of fourth seed Malone versus fifth seed Cedarville.
