Bath County's Jake Mitchell Scores 36 Points in Controversial Loss to Nicholas County

Bath County's Jake Mitchell scored a season-high 36 points in a controversial overtime loss to Nicholas County tonight.

The game ended in controversy when Mitchell was seemingly fouled on the game's final shot attempt. A referee watched closely but called nothing, giving Nicholas a 79-78 victory on the road.

Bath County head coach Bart Williams believed there was contact on the play.

After the game, Williams said, "I never like to whine and cry about officiating, but I was really disappointed that we didn't get that call. Mitchell was mugged on the last play. He deserved that call and we deserved that win."

Nicholas County improved to 6-7 with the win. Sam Hamilton and Trent Letcher led the Bluejackets with 15 points each. Spencer Morris added 14.

Ben Peyton chipped in 13 for the Wildcats (6-8).

"I was really proud of our kids," Williams added after the loss. "We battled all night. We could have quit several times but we didn't."

Here's a look at the final be the judge:
