USA U19's Tested by Lithuania in Narrow Victory

2009 FIBA U19 World Championships in New Zealand

The Americans were tested by a desperate Lithuania team, but they pulled out a win to improve to 6-0 in the FIBA U19 World Championships. Lithuania (3-3) was fighting for their medal lives and gave a tremendous effort, but they came up just short.

The United States (6-0) was led by Tyshawn Taylor with 13 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Klay Thompson and Kentucky's Darius Miller each scored 10 points. Miller was instrumental in the victory as he put in six consecutive points at a crucial stage in the final quarter. Shelvin Mack chipped in 5 points for the USA.

Eimantas Bendzius led Lithuania with 21 points and 12 rebounds.

The Americans have advanced to Friday's quarterfinal round where they will play Canada (3-3).
