Tobias Harris Journal: Nice Surprise for Knoxville

Tobias Harris, the #5 recruit on the Rivals150 List for 2010, is now 12 days away from announcing his college choice. This is the Tobias Harris Journal, an all access feature from AllKYHoops.com that intends to illustrate the high-major recruiting process through the eyes of the recruit.

Tobias wrapped up his Georgia Tech visit early today and then made his way to Knoxville, Tennessee. He watched Tennessee dismantle UNC-Asheville by a score of 124-49.

"I just felt like watching them play and it was only two hours from Georgia Tech," the big man explained.

Harris, who has not returned home yet, says he still plans to sit down with his family and make his college decision. He shot down rumors that he had already committed to the Volunteers or that he was ready to commit.

"I was in Knoxville, but I am not committed to Tennessee. I still have to talk everything with my family."

I told him that rumors were circulating that he had chosen Tennessee and he simply stated, "No, that is not true."

He still plans to make his announcement Thursday at 5:30 p.m. on ESPNU.

"No favorite yet," he said. "I'm still taking a final look at all the schools."

I asked him to tell me what stands out to him about each school on his final list:

- Syracuse: "The style of play and their facilities"

- Kentucky: "The fans and the atmosphere"

- Tennessee: "The passion of the coaches"

- Louisville: "The individual instruction and their work ethic"

- West Virginia: "Coach Huggins getting the best out of his guys"

- Maryland: "The campus and school itself"

- Georgia Tech: "The city of Atlanta and the school's academics"

Where will he end up? Let's discuss in the comments section...

Love to have him in Big Orange country, but I don'think its a done deal either...could be a surprise in there. Sound like the Vols are getting his buddy Pinkston out of Brooklyn today though.

Go Vols

he's spent more time at maryland over the last 2 1/2 months than all the other schools combined

Harris will not be going to Louisville MisterBigCard. Guess you're a little biased, but if anyone's noticed, the Harrises have given Louisville the least attention out of any of these schools.

pcesgns4ever!

You are very wrong and have obviously not followed the entire recruitment of Harris.

It's been Cuse, UT, UofL, WVU for a long time now.

Cuse, UT, and WVU, yes. Louisville, absolutely not.. Somebody is obviously biased. AllKYHoops is a great name for this site...I've got harris going to either UT, Cuse, UMD, or WVU, in that order.

Sure, Louisville is listed, but the Harrises have largely ignored the school other than a brief visit.

Who are the Harrises?.............

Learn to type.

Haha. What an idiot.

Tobias Harris + Torrel Harris + Rest of Harris family = Plural form of Harris

Thus, "Harrises."

WOW! pcesgn4ever all I can say is if you REALLY believe this, is to say, PLEASE PUT DOWN THE PIPE & SLOWLY BACK AWAY!

I commend the Harris family on the way they have conducted this recruitment. I seriously doubt that anyone other than the coaches involved, have any REAL idea of where Tobias is going. But it does appear that Tennessee is that destination.

Haha. Pipe's gone now. But I wouldn't trust you Tennesseans and Kentuckians with grammar, anyway.

At least we can agree he's headed for Tennessee.

Do you pay any attention to recruiting news? A brief visit? It's not like he was down for one day.

well you hear a helluva a lot more about tennessee, kentucky, and cuse than louisville. thats for sure.

looks like you're paying WAY too much attention to the louisville side of the news, if you ask me. straight-up bias. haha

p.s. FWIW, i am a maryland fan, and even though i follow the tobias as he relates to maryland, i still know that umd is not really a legitimate possibility. maybe you should resign yourself to the fact that louisvilles just not an option anymore. its cuse or tenn, buddy.
