Ge-lawn Guyn Made the Decision That Was Best for Him

I had a great conversation with Scott County senior Ge-lawn Guyn tonight about his choice to attend Wolfboro (N.H.) Brewster Academy.

Guyn feels that he made the best choice for himself.

"I feel like it was a great decision. I'm going there to get better. I have battled tendinitis in both my knees basically all season long and I think a season there will allow me to improve my game," Guyn said.

Ge-lawn said he has earned offers from Baylor, Virginia Tech and Ole Miss along with several others that would like to have him now but he felt a special bond to Brewster.

He explained, "Brewster came when no one else was there. I picked up these offers late but I felt close to Brewster."

He added that he intends to keep his recruitment open during the next year and will see how it plays out.

Guyn will head to New Hampshire in September, but will join an AAU team this summer.

"I'm going to play with Indiana Elite this summer and our first tournament is coming up on May 1 in Ft. Wayne (Ind.)," he said.

Guyn will join an already loaded AAU squad that includes Vinny Zollo, Jeremiah Davis and Matt Carlino.

I asked him how he feels about living in New Hampshire for a year and he answered, "I'm just going there to play ball and be a great student and citizen."

He admitted that it will be difficult to leave Scott County.

"Playing as Scott County was great. I love my coaches and my teammates. I love the fans. The bottom line is that I love Scott County."

Ge-lawn added, "I just hope everyone will wish me luck and tell me God bless."
