The once promising basketball career of Scott County star Bud Mackey has come to a sad and bitter end.

Mackey, who has been unable to avoid trouble since his high school days, was sentenced to 15 1/2 years in prison this morning in a drug and theft case.

Here is an excerpt from Lex18.com:

The former basketball stand-out recently entered a guilty plea in court for trafficking in a controlled substance as well as escaping from the Scott County Sheriff's Office while being arrested on a robbery charge.

Mackey was sentenced to 15 1/2 years - 10 1/2 for robbery, theft and trafficking drugs, and five years for probation violation. The escape charge against Mackey was dismissed.

You can't use the helping verb with the past tense. You use the helping verb with the perfect tense. The once-promising career has COME to an end or career came to an end, but NOT has came. That's illiterate, pal.
