Western Kentucky Defeats Austin Peay in Season Opener for Program's 1,700th All-Time Win

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- WKU earned its 1,700th program victory Saturday afternoon at E.A. Diddle Arena with a 77-70 win over Austin Peay. The win moves WKU to 1-0 on the season for the first time since 2010-11, and the victory makes WKU just the 18th program in NCAA history to record 1,700 wins.

T.J. Price scored a game-high 22 points after making all four three-point tries, and Rob Marberry played 18 key minutes off the bench scoring seven points and grabbing three rebounds. Trency Jackson and Chris Harrison-Docks were also in double figures with 14 and 13 points, respectively.

After Austin Peay tied the score at 47 with 14:36 remaining, WKU used a 13-4 run to take a 60-51 lead. The Governors came within one possession of the Hilltoppers just once in the final 14:36 of the game.

Austin Peay saw four players in double figures. WKU leads the all-time series between the two former Ohio Valley Conference rivals 39-14. The Hilltoppers have won 13 of their last 14 non-conference home games.
