EKU's Denzel Richardson Named Co-Newcomer of the Week in the OVC

Eastern Kentucky's Denzel Richardson has been named Co-Newcomer of the Week in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Richardson averaged 11.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.0 assists per game last week.

Richardson averaged 11.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.0 assists/game while hitting 40 percent (6-of-15) from the field, 45.5 percent (5-of-11) from 3-point range and 6-of-6 from the charity stripe in a pair of non-conference victories. At Coppin State the transfer from Pensacola State College made just two field goals but that included a game-winning 3-pointer with 0.3 seconds left to push the Colonels to the 66-63 victory in his hometown. He finished the week with 18 points, four rebounds, two steals and an assist against South Carolina State.

CO-NEWCOMER

Charles Jackson, C • Jr., 6-10, 225 • Sacramento, Calif. • Tennessee Tech

In three games last week Jackson averaged 16.3 points and 13.7 rebounds/game while hitting 48.6 percent (18-of-37) from the field. He opened the week with 28 points and 16 rebounds (7 offensive) in an 87-84 home court win over North Florida; both totals were season highs for the transfer from the College of Southern Idaho. Jackson added seven points and 15 rebounds in a road loss at Eastern Illinois and capped the week with 14 points and 10 rebounds at SIUE. Jackson now has 11 double-doubles this season which ranks second nationally; he also ranks 16th among Division I players in rebounding (10.1/game).
