Pikeville's Kenny Manigault Named Mid-South Conference Player of the Week

University of Pikeville guard Kenny Manigault was named Mid-South Conference Player of the Week on Monday.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Pikeville (Ky.) senior Kenny Manigault is the Mid-South Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week presented by Roeding Insurance, conference officials announced on Monday.

The weekly award Manigault's first of the season. He becomes the second Bear this season to capture the honor.

Manigault averaged 21.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game in three Pikeville wins last week. He capped the week making 52.4 percent (22-of-42) of his shots from the field, including 40 percent (2-for-4) from deep, and 18-for-20 from the free throw line.

Manigault opened the week with season highs in points (31) and rebounds (13) in the Bears' 108-71 win at Florida College last Monday. One day later, Manigault scored 19 points, dished out five assists and recorded four steals in Pikeville's 114-91 win over Florida National.

The Ridgeville, S.C. forward closed out the week with 14 points and five rebounds in just 16 minutes of action in a 98-49 home win over Carlow (Pa.). The win ran Pikeville's winning streak to a season-high nine games.

Manigault leads the Mid-South and ranks fourth in the NAIA averaging 2.6 steals per game. He is second in the conference in assists per game (3.8), third in rebounds per game (7.4) and double-doubles (5) and fifth in scoring (18.3) and field goal percentage (50.2).

No. 4-ranked Pikeville improves to 15-1 overall with last week's win. The Bears are second in the Mid-South with a 4-1 conference mark.

The next MSC Men's Basketball Player of the Week will be announced on Monday, Jan. 19.
