Union College's J.D. Tucker Named AAC Player of the Week

Union College's J.D. Tucker was named Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Union College senior guard J.D. Tucker is the Appalachian Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

This is the first weekly award for Tucker this season and the second for his career.

The Charleston, S.C., native helped the seventh-ranked Bulldogs to a 3-0 record last week, including an 80-74 victory over No. 3 Davenport University. He averaged 21.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. In addition, Tucker made 64.5 percent (20-of-31) of his shots, including all three of his 3-point attempts. At the free-throw line, he was a perfect 22-for-22 on the week.

His best game came against Cincinnati Christian University as he scored a career-high 28 points to go along with seven rebounds in the 77-66 victory.

Tucker is seventh in the AAC in scoring at 17.1 points per game and ranks 13th in NAIA Division II in total scoring with 205 points. He is fourth in the nation in free-throw percentage at 93.3 percent, having 56-of-60 from the charity stripe.

Union is 9-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The Bulldogs return to action Wednesday when they play host to the Bears of Truett-McConnell College. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
