Berea College Transitions Into USA South Atlantic Conference

On July 1, Berea College officially transitioned into NCAA Divisions III"s USA South Atlantic Conference.

(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) – On July 1, 2017, the USA South Athletic Conference officially welcomed Berea College, Brevard College and Pfeiffer University as its three newest members. All three will begin competing in the League this coming Fall. (READ MORE HERE)

With the addition of three new members, the USA South's divisional structures have been adjusted for the upcoming 2017-18 season. The Conference will feature divisional standings in the sports of Men's Soccer, Women's Soccer, Volleyball, Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Softball, Men's Tennis and Women's Tennis. Pfeiffer will be placed in the East Division while Berea and Brevard will compete in the West Division. An additional adjustment is Salem College's move to the East Division.

As was previously announced, Berea will be the lone institution of the three who will be a full-fledged NCAA Division III member and thus is immediately eligible to compete for all USA South championships and awards. Both Brevard and Pfeiffer are currently reclassifying from NCAA Division II to Division III and have been integrated into the USA South schedules for all sports in which they sponsor however, contests versus the two reclassifying members will not count within the League standings until the 2018-19 season. Additionally, until their reclassifying process with the NCAA is complete, which is anticipated to be following the 2020-21 academic year, neither institution will be eligible to compete in any USA South post-season tournament event. Beginning with the 2018-19 academic year, both Brevard and Pfeiffer will be eligible for regular season titles and athletic awards. Beginning immediately, all reclassifying student-athletes are eligible for any Conference-awarded academic and/or sportsmanship honors.
